Our mobile education unit
Asthma New Zealand’s blue mobile unit is for use throughout New Zealand by the Asthma Societies affiliated to Asthma New Zealand – The Lung Association for Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease education. Nurse educators offer one to one education sessions giving advice and information on the various aspects of asthma and COPD.
In 2002 the unit completed a New Zealand wide tour with the assistance of the ANZ Banking Group, seeing 1259 people who had concerns about their asthma. Nurses from Asthma Auckland who were trained in Spirometry, completed the year long tour.
The unit was at the Timaru Festival of Roses in November 2004, and has visited various shopping centre sites throughout Auckland. It was also been used for Kindergarten and Retirement village visits.
