Available is a wide range of pamphlets and other printed resources to help people with asthma and their families.

Dust Mite allergy is an important trigger for asthma in New Zealand. The dust mite is 0.3mm in length and can only be seen by using a microscope. The mite’s faeces have a potent protein allergen, which is the major cause of allergy for people with asthma, hay fever and eczema. Mites feed on dead skin that we lose from our bodies. They thrive in New Zealand because of our warm, humid climate.
As the largest contact with dust mites are in our beds, one of the most important ways to avoid dust mite allergy is by placing a physical barrier between our mattress and ourselves, completely enclosing our mattress, pillows and duvets in allergen barrier products.
We provide two types of allergen barrier covers for dust mite allergy. Each company use different materials and they are priced to suit various budgets.

Nebulizers: used by people with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. These are available for both hire and purchase through our shop. A doctor’s letter is required prior to purchase or hire.
Nebulizers for hire are available on short-term loan only, depending on availability. A partially refundable bond is payable on collection of the nebulizer. There is also a weekly hire charge.
Asthma New Zealand – The Lung Association has various nebulizers for sale. These are available to suit all budgets. The association also stocks the accessories that are required for each of the nebulizers.
