GSK Travel Scholarship for ERS

GSK Travel Scholarship for ERS-Paris 2018 – Health practitioner with specialist respiratory interest/ respiratory and or community nurses specialists.

Deadline for application: 31 August 2018.

Aim: This award will support two people to attend the European Respiratory Society International Congress, ERS 2018 to be held in Paris, France between 15 - 19 September 2018.

This award may be awarded to any health practitioner who is working int the area of Respiratory Medicine in the capacity of vocational general practitioner with respiratory interest/ or registered nurse specialist.

The recipient will be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident who currently resides in New Zealand. This is a travel award is to cover economy return flights, accommodation for ERS and registration.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Be vocationally trained General Practitioner (FRNZCGP) or respiratory nurse specialist.
  2. Be a citizen or permanent resident of New Zealand.
  3. Be a health practitioner:
  • Have demonstrated research interest or respiratory health with a track history of published work and/or research experience,
  • Have excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with other health and science professionals,
  • Have an ongoing commitment to further education and professional development, and the opportunity to promote education in the area of asthma and respiratory disease to vocational peers.


The following conditions must be meet by members receiving this award:

  • The award must be used for the ERS International Congress which will be held in Paris, France between 15 - 19 September 2018.
  • A report summarising the outcomes of the travel must be provided to Asthma New Zealand two months after completing the travel.

Preference will be given to a candidate who has submitted an abstract for the ERS International Congress 2018.

  • A statement of your involvement in respiratory medicine and the benefit of this award to your career development (one A4 page maximum)
  • Any submitted abstract for the meeting
  • A track record (maximum two A4 pages).
